The fleet

Cat and Canary is a medium sized company offering transportation services. It is operating from Medina station. Its services include transporting people and freight as well as special goods. You can hire Cat and Canary for exploration or for small assault missions.

To this end Cat and Canary possesses a small fleet of frigates:

CCS Apollo
CCS Phex
CCS Queen of Sheba
CCS Manwe (with builder plating from Bara Gaon)
CCS Lakshmi
CCS Tershkova - a former Lavov ship

They were all built on Tycho station as military vessels for the UN Navy. Hence, their overall architecture is identical. They differ in their exact equipment since they were refurbished for civil use at some point.

Apollo and Manwe are the fleet’s battleships carrying torpedos. Lakshmi might be perfect for exploration with its advanced sensor arrays and its medical expert system can even help on hostile planets. Queen of Sheba and Phex show their strengths when carrying “special goods”.

All ships have a small hangar bay housing a pod. Pods are small vessels with just enough space to house two humans. They only have thrusters but are equipped with grapplers. Their self-destruct system can turn them into a dangerous weapon or destroy unwanted evidence. But remember that they are expensive and it takes a lot of time to replace them.

All five ships are equipped with point defense cannons (PDC) to get rid of small meteors. Thrusters along the hull ensure maneuverability. The hull is military grade although sometimes patched.

Among the common features the five ships share the general layout. From bottom to top they have the following decks:

Ops and Piloting; piloting is a slightly enhanced level in the ops decks
Quarters directly beneath the ops deck ensure officers on duty to quickly reach their assigned place of operations. With minimum crew these places are enough to house everyone.
The galley is next. This is where the whole crew can meet although with full crewing this might get crowded.
More quarters follow the galley.
After the quarters there is a deck for the medical bay and some room for workshops or other specialized tasks.
Cargo space comes then. On Manwe this is also storage for the torpedos. Apollo, that shoots plasma torpedos, this space can be completely used for storing things.
With reactor and engines we have almost reached the end of the ship. Next to the reactor a small housing holds the pod.
After them there is some space for the actual engines and the water tanks.
